In addition to serving as an entry point to further education and employment, SCYAP Inc. will provide "at-risk" youth with a relevant career skill enhancement program and a community service initiative, as well as create experiences that build character and skills in personal, interpersonal, technical and artistic realms. The organization will provide these youth with the opportunity to build a positive self-image while simultaneously offering them alternative ways of expressing themselves in a more socially acceptable manner. The organization will allow "at-risk" youth an equal opportunity access to arts & culture career development and job training while providing a beautiful artistic service to the Saskatoon Community. SCYAP Inc. will provide programs that use visual art and community bonding as the key focus for the personal development, empowerment and redirection of "at-risk" youth to a healthy, happy, and productive life. The organization will partner with other youth agencies and programs to better coordinate and expand the range of services offered to "at-risk" youth in our Saskatoon communities. Aboriginal Youth Development Over 70% of SCYAP participants are of Aboriginal ancestry and SCYAP incorporates Aboriginal Art Leaders who educate participants about the history of First Nations art and artists helping them to define their own rules as Aboriginal people and as Aboriginal artists.
